Create a beautiful piece of art for your garden or home using 450 million-year-old Cape Ann Granite cobbles in this one-day workshop, offered as part of a year-long collaboration with the Cape Ann Artisan’s to mark their 40th anniversary. Each piece is unique and hand carved by local granite artist Antony Ciaramitaro. Students will create a mixed media or smalti (beautiful Italian glass) mosaic. We will work directly using thin set mortar so your cobble will be safe to place outside year-round. All materials and tools supplied. All levels of experience are welcome.
Pam Stratton is a contemporary mosaic artist who does both representational and abstract work primarily using smalti, handmade Italian glass, which comes in luscious colors and natural stone. Her work has been shown at exhibits in the Somerville Museum, The Rockport Art Association the Chicago Mosaic School and, as part of the International Society of Mosaic Artists exhibitions at the Museum of Man in San Diego, CA, and the Parthenon Museum in Nashville, TN.
